How Delhi Was Stripped



SOMETHING THAT WROTE ITSELF... THIS SAD SATURDAY MORNING...
Titled 'Dilli Ka Chir Haran' this is a short poem that references the stripping of Draupadi in the Mahabharat by the cousins of her (five) husbands to whom they have lost her in a game of dice. The poem compares the simmering situation in Delhi today since riots erupted earlier in the week following hate speeches by leaders of the party in power. These were directed against those peacefully protesting against the extremely discriminatory Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) that their government is determined steamroll despite widespread opposition
